Effect: Fuzz Face
So this beauty is an Arbiter Fuzz face reissue made by Dennis Cornell. To my knowledge there are not many of these especially with NKT 275 Germanium transistors. This appears to be an early reissue in this period (late 1990's) as it does not have the Arbiter label on the base and comes in a unbranded box. Also later units primarily used the AC128 transistors. This also has a 2K2 fuzz pot and 470K Volume pot where later ones were B1K and A100K respectively. Possibly a prototype?!
The other strange thing about this one is that the markings on the transistors have been rubbed out slightly, wether this was done pre or post manufacture is anyones guess. However these transistors have not been replaced and are original to the board, which means they would have been selected and matched by Dennis Cornell making them correct and original to this unit. You can certainly make out a "275" on one of the cans. So with them being both solder intact we can conclude they are both NKT275 and with white dots.
The more i look into it the cooler it gets ;)
Spoddy-ness aside. This thing sounds fantastic and NKT based Fuzz Faces are just going up in value.
